Jones Valley sits at the base of Monte Sano, running from Five Points south toward Bailey Cove: established mid-century neighborhoods with big lots, plus newer builds. The corridor connects through Big Cove to our shop in Owens Cross Roads, so we're in the area constantly.

The house with the glued-on storms

One Jones Valley house took three days. Someone had glued the storm windows on. Not screwed. Glued. They came off by cutting the adhesive and levering the panels free with an air wedge, the inflatable bag locksmiths use on car doors. Then two washes, the second with algae remover, fresh bolts, the old adhesive cleaned off the frames, and a new foam gasket around each panel at the owner's request. They went back on the house.

That's the extreme case. But mid-century housing here means original 1950s windows next to floor-to-ceiling modern glass on the same street, and each gets its own approach. Storm windows are common in these neighborhoods, and they're the specialty.
